Good LORD this took so long to do. Seriously. Two days and like.... jeeze... something like 18 hours? More? It probably shouldn't have taken so long, but after practicing with simple, fairly shitty earring-making, this is the first piece of real jewelry I've ever made using metal and wire and whatnot. I've never worked with these materials before, so of course everything worked out exactly as I intended it, which means I'll never be able to replicate this level of success again in my life. :P But it was a learn-as-I-crafted process.

The photo, I'm afraid, does not do it justice, because I am a shitty photographer. The metal of the main bit in the middle there is actually a lot darker, full of gorgeous subtle color shifts and shadows. It's the innards of an old stopwatch I bought at a yardsale probably 15 years ago. I don't know how old this thing was when I bought it, but I have to suspect it's really, really old. The hands had corroded so much, they both literally crumbled in my hands when I took the thing apart. But here's the thing:

It works.

That copper wire is all that's keeping the switch from falling out, but yes, when you click it, the wheels turn and tick and try to count the time. For about 20 seconds. After that, it wears down and stops, and you have to re-set it. It is THAT old. But IT WORKS.

Holy crap I'm tired now. x.x

........Okay, I took a photo of it with my cell phone, so you can actually see the quality of the pretty color shifts in the center metal bit. Here:

Still not it EXACTLY, but it captures the essence of the piece in the middle much better than this photo does with the flash on.

I think it's beautiful! Very steamy, it's also pretty awesome that the remains of the clock still work. <3
Kind of like being a windup doll?

Awesome! It's like the steampunk version of Flava-Flav.
